FranciscanPoetryNet
Franciscan Poetry in ALL languages and dialects in the world, with a translation in English. Translations in other languages - from anyone - are also welcome.

Goal

The purpose of FranciscanPoetry.net is to promote, stimulate, share and publish the collecting and creating of poems, songs (with or without music), prayers in poem form, etc. which have a Franciscan content, that is, which have been written by or about Franciscan saints or on Franciscan topics. This even includes poems, etc. which mention a Franciscan saint or topic. (Main category)

FranciscanPoetry.net also accepts any poem (song, prayer) written by an member of the Franciscan family. (Secondary category)

Poetry says something more and deeper than prose. Language is our medium of expression.

English and Other Languages

The Internet doubtlessly is global and its lingua franca is de facto English. At the same time, it is evident that the Web covers “people from every nation, race, tribe and language” (Rev. 7:9). For this reason, FranciscanPoetry.net is open to ALL languages and dialects in the world. So, any person on earth can participate in this project.

This reflects the unique Saint Francis as “the universal brother” as well as the universality and unity of the world-wide Franciscan family.

The diversity of languages is too extensive for a single person to know them all. So, in order to ensure both universality and unity, FranciscanPoetry.net requires that a non-English poem, etc. should be provided with a translation in English.

Translations

Translations in other languages are also encouraged. Likewise, an English poem, etc. may be accompanied by translations in other languages, which everyone, including the author, is kindly invited to provide.
