Year For Priests (poem)

To My Adopted Priest

Francis, in Tanzania,

1. You are the priest whose name I have acquired

In this Year For Priests to pray,

And even beyond this time required,

With a prayer specially to say.

2. I have decided to continue

This support of faith and hopes,

For I want to contribute

To you and your entrusted folks.

3. Jesus has said where there are two

Who are united in his name

There in their midst he will be too (cf. Mt 18:20)

And his hand will bless the same.

4. Prayer is not limited

By distance or geography.

Rather prayer’s infinite.

That is sound theology.

5. May your apostolate be blessed,

And God give you eternal rest.

What your efforts represent

Is the work done by his hand.

6. May the Spirit be your strength,

May your work be truly his,

May he cover width and length

Of your efforts for the promise.

7. Praise to the Father and all the merit.

We profess and we proclaim

The Father, Son and holy Spirit.

And the Gospel in God’s Name.

8. Your life to Mary I entrust.

I place you under her protection.

You are her son and that is just.

She is your mother and consolation.
